Ducklings!
February 26, 2009The ducklings are hatching! Pictures to come later. Gabe is going to be so thrilled when he gets home. He loves baby ducks and cuddles with them for hours.
Dehorning and neutering
February 26, 2009Yesterday I had to perform the awful tasks of dehorning the baby goats and neutering the baby bucklings. Both are horrible jobs but necessary. I was lucky to have my friend Sally help me. Everyone, including me, are recovered today.
These sites explain why these tasks are necessary and how they are done.

Milk joy
February 26, 2009The boys came home from school yesterday and started rummaging in the fridge for food. Dan picked up the pitcher of goat milk and asked whether he could drink it. He proceeded to take the top off, add chocolate powder and take a walk outside, chugging down the whole half gallon down as he explored. Gabe saw him and quickly mimicked his brother with a smaller quart container. Both boys remarked how happy they were that we had goat’s milk to drink again after a six week respite. This is the biggest reason I raise dairy goats so much children can drink as much fresh raw milk as they want.
Button detail
February 23, 2009I thought I would finish this vest in March around St. Patricks Day. Hence, the green yarn and celtic knot buttons.
Finished green vest
February 23, 2009I finished my second vest and am pleased with it. It is a simple pattern to knit and I expect I will knit quite a few more colors. It will be a staple in my wardrobe.
