Open Farm Day July 17, 2010

Today we had our first “Open Farm Day.” It was a low key event, not heavily advertised or promoted but a day on which we directed everyone who asked to come see the farm in the past few months to come by.

We are a working farm, 24/7 and while we welcome people by appointment, drop-ins can severely limit a day’s project.

We sampled our cheeses, showed off our preliminary lay-out for the new building housing the milk parlor, milk room , make room, office, store and commercial kitchen, showed off our preliminary property plan with the new greenhouses and rotating grazing paddocks, let children pet ducklings, chicks and baby goats, provided silly photo ops with cut-outs and tractors, and gave the grand tour through the property.

It was a fun day with many old faces and many new faces visiting. We expect to do it again next summer.
