Saturday Barn Report

Is it mid May already?  How does time go by so fast here at the farm?

We shift gears dramatically at this time of year.

Dan and I go from making cheese every day in the creamery to leaving the farm to sell cheese at markets almost every day.

Cara goes from giving tours at the farm to giving kayaking tours on the Hudson River.

Rachel stops milking everyday and starts vegetable farming.

Margaret stops going to class every day and starts milking every day.

Our farms goes from being open most of the time to being open at only select times with the gates closed otherwise.

The baby goats are all weaned and independent.

The chicks and ducklings grow feathers and learn to free range.

The milk supply peaks and then shifts slowly downward, cheese making simplifies and slows down.

The goats get out on pasture and in the woods every day.

We look forward to seeing you at markets!
