Monday Reflection: Favorite Market Moment

Dan and I do six farmer’s markets a week this time of year and every week we meet interesting people, observe really cool events and share great experiences.  On Mondays, we regroup and look at our past week and think about those market moments.

Our favorite market moment this week happened at the Beacon Farmer’s Market this Sunday.  Due to possible poor weather on Saturday, the annual Newburgh to Beacon swim was rescheduled for Sunday when we were at market.  First there was great music nearby.  That always livens things up. Then there was lots of friends and families gathering to cheer their loved one’s arrival after swimming a MILE with currents across the mighty Hudson River.  Then the river became full of people swimming and kayakers spotting them.  As each swimmer rose out of the water, the crowd cheered.  We met many of the swimmers as they perused the markets, each with a number hand written on their shoulder.
